The Biochef is a solid, versatile juicer with an impressive array of additional functions.

It works by crushing and squeezing ingredients through its corkscrew mechanism to produce smooth, foam-free juices, purées, dips, nut butters, sorbets and pasta. Its ability to chomp through unruly and fibrous ingredients like kale makes it our pick for ‘best vegetable juicer’.

You can adjust the nozzle to determine how much pressure you'd like fruit and vegetables to be squeezed under, which in turn gives you control over how much pulp will be produced. Harder veg like carrots need a higher pressure than softer ones, for example.

It has a relatively wide feeder chute for dropping in ingredients, though we still had to quarter apples before juicing, adding to prep time.

Juice flows out through a funnel at the base of the juicer arm, and the mulch is caught from the end of the nozzle. Without the feeder nozzle the Biochef is much easier to store.

Their website claims the machine takes three minutes to clean, and indeed it didn't take long – a quick scrub under hot water took off all the pulp.

Quiet, powerful and efficient, you get a lot for your money, as well as six additional attachments, containers, a bespoke tamper and cleaning brush. With additional recipes to get you started, there’s a lot you can do with this juicer.
