Bamix Classic hand blender summary

Out of all the hand blenders that landed in our kitchen for testing, the Bamix was the most eco-friendly in terms of minimal, recyclable packaging. This no-frills choice is a straightforward, satisfying addition to your appliances, with top-grade materials, a classic design and a motor unit that could power the blending, chopping and whisking of ingredients in your kitchen for years to come.

Bamix Classic hand blender first impressions

The Bamix is heavy and robust but feels very comfortable in the hand, with a large rubbery control panel containing buttons for adjusting the two speeds of the motor. We found the paper instructions lacking, with only explanations of what the different attachments could be used for but, infuriatingly, one attachment mentioned (a meat mincer blade) wasn’t included with this particular model. The leaflet did direct us to Bamix.com, however, where there were some useful recipes and a host of accessories for sale to complement the Classic, which is the starter model in the range. (We’ve since tried the mini processor attachment that’s available and it’s brilliant – blitzing custom dry spice blends to a fine powder.)

Bamix Classic hand blender results

There are only two speeds to choose from but it’s a powerful tool and there was no effort blending smoothies to a smooth, velvety texture or passing the wand through mayonnaise mix only once to get the right result. The nearly-2m cord length was generous and appreciated. Cleaning the Bamix Classic after use was straightforward, though you do have to move the blade from the housing as it’s the one thing that detaches from the main body. Be careful, as the multi-purpose blade is sharp. The whisk and beater, on the other hand, are flat discs, so can be popped off easily. There was no problem with food getting trapped in nooks and crannies as this is a very fuss-free design.

Bamix Classic hand blender verdict

The Classic is just that – a tasteful, useful, timeless tool that would make a great wedding gift or worthy investment for your kitchen. We’d recommend a Bamix wall holder or stand for storage, and we’d have liked Bamix to include somewhere safe to put the separate blades and discs as they may be hard to find in a chaotic cutlery drawer.
