Origami is a simple craft that doesn’t require any special equipment – all you need to get started is a piece of paper! For a rainy day activity, we’ve chosen three easy ideas for kids and beginners to try. There’s no need to buy special origami paper, although choosing thinner paper will make the folding easier for little hands.

How to make origami

1. Jumping frog

We love a craft activity that kids can play with afterwards – and this origami frog certainly fits the bill! Everyone can make their own jumping frog, then race them against each other across the living room floor. If you don’t have googly eyes, you can use felt tip pens instead to decorate them.

2. Butterflies

These beautiful origami butterflies are addictively easy to make, and they’re so versatile as decorations. Why not make several in different colours of the rainbow and use them to decorate your window? We also love the idea of turning them into a simple mobile.

3. Origami dog
